i went to your funeral
but you were dead
and had forgotten my name

linked only
by ephemeral tangents
at a workplace
our separate trajectories of existence
had each tracked
in their own parallel universe

glancing peripheral associations
between colleagues
of immiscible aspirations

yet the public recollections
and intimate testimony from eulogeurs
...who have never known my name...
portrayed a life
that was in no manner diminished
by my absence
